Man allegedly imprisoned his wife because he wasn’t done arguing with her, Dona Ana Sheriff’s officials say

An East Mesa man was arrested the evening of Sept. 9 after Doa Ana County Sheriff’s deputies say he refused to let his wife leave their living room.

Deputies arrived at the 8000 block of Prophet Circle and spoke with Carlos Centeno, 24, whoreportedly told deputies his wife was in the bathroom vomiting.

He explained to them that they had been in an argument, during which Centeno allegedly held his wife on the floor, pinning her wrists so that she could not escape, according to sheriff’s officials.

During questioning, Centeno reportedly told deputies he “wasn’t finished arguing with her” and that’s why he refused to let her leave the residence, after she reportedly asked to leave several times, according to sheriff’s officials.

Centeno was arrested at the scene and a small pipe, which Centeno said he used to smoke marijuana, was found in his pocket when he was taken into custody. He was charged with false imprisonment, battery against a household member and possession of paraphernalia.

Centeno was booked into the Doa Ana County Detention Center on a $5,000 surety bond and has since bailed out.
