Luther Jones agrees to pay Ysleta ISD $250,000 in restitution

Ex-County Judge Luther Jones has agreed in court documents to pay Ysleta Independent School District $250,000 in restitution.

Jones was of intentionally guiding Ysleta Independent School District contracts to insurance provider Access Healthsource. He was sentenced in late August to 63 months in prison, which will be served at the same time as a prior sentence for a public corruption conviction.

During the sentencing in late August, Jones’ defense told the court that the former county judge’s assets included $20,000 in a personal account, $300,000 in a Swiss bank account, real estate and land.

Prosecutors told Montalvo that Jones should be held accountable for paying YISD $500,000 in restitution, a fraction of the nearly $3 million defrauded from the school district during the scheme.
