City of Socorro hires new fire chief
The current Fire Chief in Templeton, California will move to the City of Socorro to become the city’s first modern era Fire Chief. Chief Jim Langborg and City Manager Willie Norfleet,Jr. came to terms on a deal that will move the new chief and have him on the job December 17th 2012. The City Manager will present the new Chief to the City Council for formal approval.
“It’s been my long time goal to become the Fire Chief of a small fire department…I have found the these (fire departments) have the best…potential to provide the highest level of service under proper leadership.”-Jim Langborg, City of Socorro Fire Chief.
Langborg brings with him 19 years’ experience as a fire fighter, 18 years as a paramedic, and more than 10 years as a Chief Officer. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Columbia Southern University and graduated the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program.
The new City of Socorro Fire Chief was a paramedic and medical specialist in the U.S. Air Force and was the Deputy Fire Chief in White River, Arizona before taking over the top job in Templeton.
Langborg has been a volunteer fire fighter and currently works with more than a dozen volunteers alongside his current staff. The new chief will earn an $88,000.00 salary and moving expenses.
