Pack of German Shepherds attacks Chaparral boy, authorities say
A Chaparral boy remains in the hospital after being attacked by a pack of German Shepherds, and one of the dogs remains on the loose.
The 12-year-old was bitten at least 50 times before residents came to his aid about 9 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Moon View Road.
The boy was walking home from his friend’s when the attack occurred. Witnesses told Doa Ana County Sheriff’s Deputies the boy was crying for help. They immediately called for help, and the boy was taken to a hospital in El Paso.
Investigators with the sheriff’s Animal Cruelty Task Force say the dogs were running loose when the attack happened. The owners of the dogs were located and notified of the attack. Investigators say the owners have not produced any proof of vaccinations for any of the dogs.
Four of the dogs were seized, but investigators say they are still looking for the fifth dog.
The boy is reportedly still hospitalized and is in stable condition.
