Santa Teresa Golf Club doesn’t sell at auction

The Santa Teresa Golf Club course went on the auction block Wednesday morning and didn’t recive a single bid.

Shortly after the auction ended at the Dona Ana county Government Center, El Paso lawyer Larry Fields told ABC-7 that he represented Charles Crowder, the man who developed the Santa Teresa area.

Fields said he hopes someone with deep pockets will buy the property and restore it to its former glory.

“In its heyday it had, I think, 1,200 members and did well financially,” Fields said. “I think what everybody yearns for is for it to become successful. I think the only way that’s going to happen is for the ingredients to come back together under common ownership with somebody that has the resources to put it back together and sell the property.”

ABC-7 called the New Mexico State tax revenue office but did not receive a response.
