UPDATE: Police identify motorcyclist killed on I-10 on-ramp

A man died after crashing his motorcycle into a tractor-trailer Friday morning on the Interstate 10 on-ramp past Raynolds Street.

Police say 65-year-old Craig Willis Vanauken died at the scene.

Investigators say Vanauken drove onto the median in an attempt to pass the tractor trailer and enter the freeway, but he hit the guardrail and ended up under the truck.

Police say the truck driver stopped. The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators do not suspect speed or alcohol to be factors in the crash. This is the 44th traffic death as compared with 52 at the same time last year.
