City posts profile of El Paso city manager position for job applicants

The City of El Paso has officially posted the city manager job position online.

Since Nov. 2013 the City has been working with Affion Public to gather information on El Paso and meet with City Council members and various community groups to get input on what qualities are preferred and required of the next City Manager.

The city manager needs to be filled this year because Joyce Wilson, El Paso’s city manager since 2004, is set to leave the position when her contract expires at the end of Sept. 2014. She is one of four finalists for the Fort Worth city manager position.

The profile for El Paso city manager is complete and can be viewed at http:// bit.ly/1fhKKH7

The profile also will be published through various professional outlets that include the Texas City Manager’s Association (TCMA) and the International City Manager’s Association (ICMA).

Interested applicants should forward a cover letter and resume to:

The job posting will be open for 30 days. After it closes, City officials say it will take the consultants 30 additional days to review resumes and provide a list of eight to 10 candidates for City Council’s review.

Mayor Oscar Leeser and City Council members will review resumes and assist in selecting the finalists that will then be interviewed by mayor and City Council as well as the citizen’s advisory group and staff panels.

The community will also have the opportunity to meet the finalists at a reception to be scheduled at a later time and provide feedback
