The 2012-2013 ski season at Ski Apache in Southern New Mexico will open Dec. 7th, according to officials. The ski resort usually opens during the Thanksgiving holiday.

“Last year was a record-breaking year on the mountain and the effects of the Little Bear Fire will not stop us from having another strong season–, ” said Frizzell Frizzell Jr., chief operating officer for Ski Apache.

Officials say the Mescalero Apache Tribe has dedicated $15 million to new chair lifts.
