Pedestrian in November collision has died

A Northeast El Paso woman has died as a result of injuries she sustained in a pedestrian/vehicle collision in late November.

At 6 p.m. Nov. 21, Josefina Garcia-Luna was crossing McCombs from east to west when she crossed into the path of a southbound 1986 Nissan Frontier driven by Robert Covington. The truck collided with Garcia-Luna as she walked into its path. Garcia-Luna was not in a crosswalk at the time. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The Special Traffic Investigations (STI) unit has been notified that Ms. Garcia-Luna died as a result of the injuries she sustained.

This is the city’s 52nd traffic fatality as compared to 69 at this time last year. This is also the 21st pedestrian death for 2012. STI continues their investigation.
