2012 story: Teen girl dies from injuries in Friday traffic collision
A 16-year-old girl severely injured in a traffic collision on Friday has died.
At 3:26 p.m. Dec. 21, El Paso Police were called out to investigate a two-vehicle crash in the intersection of Resler and Northern Pass. Roxanna Ladron de Guevara, 16, of El Paso, suffered severe injuries and died over the weekend.
According to police, a Ford Focus driven by 18-year-old Jason Casper was traveling westbound on Northern Pass and allegedly drove past a stop sign and into the intersection. At that time a 2009 Ford Truck driven by 35-year-old Donald Paterson south on Restler when the two vehicles collided. Ladron de Guevara, a passenger in the Focus, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to University Medical Center for treatment.
At this time investigators have not determined if alcohol, speed or failure to wear a safety belt were factors in this crash. Ladron de Guevara is the 55th traffic related fatality of 2012 compared to 70 during the same time period last year.
