Chihuahuas win 3rd in a row

The El Paso Chihuahuas beat Albuquerque 6-3 Tuesday, sealing their third straight win and a series victory over the Isotopes. El Paso starter Billy Buckner surrendered only one run in 5.2 innings. Buckner has allowed three runs or less in three of his four starts since being signed by the Padres in mid-April.

After Albuquerque scored a first inning run on a Clint Robinson RBI double, the Chihuahuas came back with three runs in the second and two runs in the third. The second inning rally included RBI hits from Buckner and Jace Peterson, while Alex Castellanos’ two-run double highlighted the third-inning rally. Adam Moore’s solo home run in the fifth gave the Chihuahuas an insurance run.

The Isotopes scored two runs on three hits in the top of the ninth inning and brought the tying run to the on-deck circle at one point, but Hector Ambriz retired Mike Baxter to end the game. The Chihuahuas have won nine of their last 12 games. El Paso does not play on Wednesday.
