Neighbors say construction project in Lower Valley is dangerous
Neighbors living in a Lower Valley community say officials are not hearing their cries of concern.
Two ongoing construction projects have sandwiched residents living in a mobile home park off of Inglewood and Alameda.
“It’s almost impossible,” neighbor Debbie Ramirez said. “It’s become a real hazard and dangerous at times. I almost got hit by an 18-wheeler.”
Access to the North Loop has been cut off by a massive PSB drain-installation project happening north of the community, which has closed off one of the community’s exit routes off of Nevarez.
On the south side of the community, TXDOT is installing a traffic signal at the intersection of Inglewood and Alameda.
Commercial trucks fight to turn from Alameda onto Inglewood because a trucking company is located in the area between the two projects, trying to squeeze into a limited-space lane on the street.
The trucks are competing to enter from Alameda with other trucks that are trying to exit.
The director of TXDOT’s El Paso division said the project appeared unsafe when ABC-7 showed him the video on Friday.
A spokeswoman with the department said they were unaware of the hazard the projected posed and would be investigating the potential dangers facing drivers at the intersection.
The spokeswoman said the department’s primary goal is the safety of drivers on Texas roads
