Borderland documentarian to focus on world’s biggest drug lord
A local filmmaker is taking on the most notorious drug dealer in the world.
Charlie Minn said his next film will investigate the capture of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.
Guzman was arrested in Mazatlan in February after U.S. and Mexican forces tracked the kingpin’s whereabouts to a condo in the Mexican resort town.
United States attorney general Eric Holder praised Guzman’s capture — hailing the feat as a victory for the ones hurt by the man responsible for ruining countless lives throughout the world.
“Es El Chapo” will be released in the fall, according to Minn.
The filmmaker says he will investigate skepticism surrounding Guzman’s capture, including reports that the man in Mexican custody is not Guzman.
Minn says he will be traveling to Sinaloa for the story.
