Drone crashes in White Sands

A QF-4 Drone crashed at White Sands National Monument.

The unmanned aircraft was in a routine training session Friday morning. It happened about five miles off of Runway 22.

The national monument was closed in advance of the test mission and officials say it was will remain closed until further notice.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, but the incident is under investigation.

The aircraft was assigned to a tenant unit at Holloman assigned to the 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group.

Additional information will be released by officials at Holloman Air Force Base as it becomes available.
