TSA sees increase in weapons confiscated at airports; view some of the items

TSA had a busy year in 2013, screening 638,705,790 passengers in 2013 (over 1,700,000 per day), which is 1,123,668 more passengers than in 2012

More than 1,800 firearms were discovered in carry-on bags at checkpoints across the country, averaging nearly five firearms per day.

Of those, 81 percent of them were loaded.

There was a 16.5 percent increase in firearm discoveries compared to 2012.
