Chihuahuas Hit Four Homers in 12-3 Win Saturday
The El Paso Chihuahuas knocked four home runs over the left field wall in Omaha Saturday in their 12-3 win over the Storm Chasers. Cody Decker hit a solo home run in the third inning. Later in the third, Jeff Francoeur hit a grand slam off his former Royals teammate Ryan Verdugo. Chris Nelson’s first Chihuahuas homer came with a runner on base in the sixth and Brooks Conrad added a three-run shot in the seventh. The four home runs matched El Paso’s season high.
The Chihuahuas had two different five-run innings Saturday, including in the seventh when six El Paso players walked, falling two bases on balls short of a PCL record for team walks in one inning. Shortstop Tyler Greene went 3-for-4 in the win for El Paso.
Chihuahuas starting pitcher Billy Buckner left the game unexpectedly after two innings. Tim Sexton earned the win after pitching three innings in relief and allowing one run. Dennis O’Grady, Bobby LaFromboise and Hector Ambriz tossed scoreless outings late for El Paso. The Chihuahuas have now won the first game of each of their two series on the current road trip.
