Chihuahuas fall to Storm Chasers in extras, 7-6
Brooks Conrad’s tenth-inning home run gave El Paso an extra-inning lead Sunday, but the Omaha Storm Chasers scored twice in the bottom of the tenth to come back and beat the Chihuahuas, 7-6. After two singles and a walk loaded the bases, Storm Chasers third baseman Johnny Giovatella hit a two-run single to left field to win the game.
The Chihuahuas pushed across at least one run in their first three innings and took a 5-0 lead. Omaha scored just one run in Matt Wisler’s five innings but chipped away at the deficit against the El Paso bullpen. The Storm Chasers three-run eighth included two unearned runs after Tyler Greene misplayed a ground ball with one out and the bases loaded. Omaha never led the game before the winning run was scored.
The Chihuahuas dropped to 2-4 in extra-inning games this season. Conrad went 3-for-4 in the game. His home run was his second in as many nights and fourth in his last 11 games. Jonathan Galvez played first base for the first time in his professional career and handled all fielding chances successfully.
