El Paso Tops Omaha 8-5

The El Paso Chihuahuas trailed by two runs with one out and no baserunners in the ninth inning Tuesday afternoon but came back to beat the Omaha Storm Chasers 8-5. Cody Decker and Chris Nelson walked, pinch-hitter Jake Lemmerman was hit by a pitch and Tyler Greene laced a three-run double to put El Paso ahead in the ninth. Jeff Francoeur’s two-run home run gave the Chihuahuas two insurance runs. Jerry Sullivan retired the Storm Chasers in order in the ninth for his first Triple-A save.

Seven of the Chihuahuas ten hits went for extra bases. Jason Lane pitched seven innings and allowed four earned runs in a no-decision. It was the fourth time this season Lane lasted through the seventh inning.

The Chihuahuas won three of the four games in Omaha against the Storm Chasers, a first place team in the American Conference. Four different Chihuahuas (Brooks Conrad, Decker, Francoeur and Adam Moore) homered twice in the series at Werner Park. The Chihuahuas finished their eight-game road swing with a 4-4 record.

The Chihuahuas do not play Wednesday.
