County terminates head of department that oversaw Vamonos vanpool program

County Commissioners in a meeting May 15 voted to terminate Rosemary Neill, the head of the department that oversaw the now-cancelled Vamonos vanpool program.

The program had been funded through the state, but that funding was cut off this month because the County failed to comply with underlying federal regulations.

It was a serious oversight in a contract that, according to the documents, only brought money into the County with no matching funds or expenses.

The only requirement was to fill out documenting paperwork proving effectiveness.

After the meeting May 15, Neill said that she was disappointed with the decision but that she still thought the $600,000 in question could still be recovered.

“Our funding partners agreed that this was a valuable program and that all we needed to do was to perfect the underlying documentation required for the billing for this particular program,” Neill said.
