El Paso County Commissioners approve opening garage on Chihuahuas game days

El Paso County Commissioners on Monday approved a proposal to open the County’s parking garage on days when the Chihuahuas play.

The proposal was approved by a unanimous vote.

The Commissioners Court approved $1,500 in overtime for attendant for two weeks as a trial period.

The County’s parking garage has 800 spots and is about an 11-minute walk to the ballpark.

County officials estimate it would take about 30 vehicles a game to park at the garage at $5 per car to break even.

They will monitor how long people have their cars there during the two weeks to determine what time the will close the garage in the future to prevent people’s cars from getting locked in.
