Identity released of woman killed in crash after her car plunged into canal near Fabens
The woman killed in Wednesday’s early morning crash has been identified as 36-year-old Amanda Duran of Fabens.
El Paso County Sheriff’s officials were sent to a motor vehicle accident at about 2:15 a.m. in the 15300 block of Socorro Rd. in far East El Paso County.
Deputies found a black Dodge passenger vehicle had crashed into a large canal bank and that there was one person inside the vehicle who had died.
The preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Socorro Rd. when, for an unknown reason, veered to the left and went across the westbound lane and off the roadway.
It then crashed into the canal bank and sheriff’s officials say speed is considered a factor in the case.
This is the fourth traffic related death investigated by the Sheriff’s Office for 2014.
