Las Cruces mother charged with child abuse

A Las Cruces mother is suspected of punishing her children in a cruel way.

Las Cruces Police charged Cynthia Mora with two counts of negligent child abuse.

LCPD discovered that Mora threw her 11-year-old son on a bed and struck him several times with a closed fist. While investigators were at the scene they learned that Mora also struck her 9-year-old daughter in August with a comb. She also allegedly struck her daughter and caused her to get hit her head on a bathtub that required stitches.

Mora was arrested and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center on Friday. Her bond was set at $10,000. She has since posted bond.
