May 2014 story: Chopper Crashes at Fort Bliss

A military helicopter went down last night at approximately 8:15 p.m. in Fort
Bliss’ northern training area.

An 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade CH-47 Chinook Helicopter, from Fort Bragg,
N.C., was conducting High Altitude Mountainous Environment Training when it
crashed in the Ore Grande, N.M. training area.

An investigation team from the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center at Fort
Rucker, Ala. is enroute to Fort Bliss today to investigate this incident.

Due to the ongoing investigation, no other information pertaining to this
incident will be released at this time.

In order to maintain their combat readiness, other U.S. Army military units,
U.S. military services and coalition nations routinely use Fort Bliss to
conduct aerial and ground training due to its vast and varying training
areas and environments.
