Officials won’t say if woman found in hail is dead or alive

El Paso authorities are not releasing much information following yesterday’s icy rescue in Northeast El Paso.

An El Paso Fire Department spokesman said the woman found buried under several feet of hail on Saturday had a body temperature of 75-degrees fahrenheit.

The spokesman would not confirm is the woman is alive or dead, only that she was transported to University Medical Center.

It took water rescue crews nearly two hours to find the woman beneath the hail in an arroyo near a movie theater and a Walmart.

Homeless men who have campsites in the arroyo told ABC-7 the woman winded up in the ditch when she was trying to rescue her dog, and was overcome by the surge of hail.
