EPPD: Toddler ran in path of driver before he was struck, killed
UPDATE: El Paso Police investigators said Jacob Caro, 2, ran and fell in the path of the vehicle driven by Anselmo Gomez, 72, when he was struck.
Gomez was reportedly leaving Vino Nuevo Church Sunday afternoon when he ran over the boy.
Vino Nuevo is located at 988 Kessler Drive.
Police said the investigation revealed the boy was out of Gomez’s sight when he fell to the ground. Gomez was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe.
Jacob Caro was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Special Traffic investigators confirmed that speed and alcohol were not factors.
No charges have been filed against Gomez.
