Las Cruces man allegedly rapes pre-teen
A Las Cruces man is behind bars, accused of sexually abusing a pre-teen family member.
Jose Luis Melendez, 29, has been charged with first degree criminal sexual penetration.
Investigators say the victim told another family member, who then called the police.
Melendez was arrested June 9 at his home and jailed at the Dona Ana Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
