Las Cruces Police release name of motorcyclist killed on March 5
Las Cruces Police have released the name of a motorcyclist killed in a fiery crash Wednesday night in Las Cruces.
It happened about 6:30 p.m. On Spruce Ave. Just past the Las Cruces Police Department facility.
Police say 21-year-old Dominic Phillips of Las Cruces was riding his sports motorcycle when he veered into oncoming traffic.
Police say Phillips was probably trying to avoid a marked police unit and another car that were stopped and waiting to turn.
Police believe Phillips was speeding when he slammed head-on into a car and died at the scene.
