Wyler Tramway loses power, stranding about 30 people on mountain

ABC-7 confirms about 30 people were stranded after the Wyler Aerial Tramway lost power Sunday night around 6 p.m.

El Paso Fire said six were in gondola, about 25 others at top near gift shop, including children.

ComSAR was called out to the scene, but with the sun fading, it quickly became a night rescue.

Rescue units directed people to hike one mile down the mountain around Robinson and Rim Road before vehicles picked them up to drive the rest of the way down.
Started at 6, quickly became night rescue operation.

No one was hurt, just riled up, and out of breath. As of 10:30 p.m. the rescue was ongoing.
