84-year-old Las Cruces woman injured in traffic collision has died

An 84-year-old woman has died from injuries she received in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Lohman Avenue

The collision occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28 on the 2001 block of East Lohman.

The woman was the driver of one of the vehicles and was critically injured in the crash.

She was transported to MountainView Regional Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Las Cruces Police say the woman was driving a 1996 gray Toyota Avalon which appeared to be exiting the Arroyo Plaza parking lot and turning east onto Lohman when it was struck broadside by a red Nissan Altima.

The 30-year-old woman driving the Altima was not seriously injured.

No citations have been issued.

Westbound traffic on Lohman Avenue, from Walnut Street to Del Monte Street, was temporarily closed while traffic investigators gathered evidence and mapped the scene.
