Cat rescued from atop electrical pole in Las Cruces after 4 days

A Las Cruces family was happily reunited with their cat Monday afternoon.

El Paso Electric crews rescued the cat stuck atop one of its poles on Eason Street in Las Crcues.

The crew de-energized the power lines, and the cat was collected by animal rescue volunteers.

Earlier on Monday, El Paso Electric’s spokesman told ABC-7 this is not standard procedure and El Paso Electric went out of its way to rescue the cat.

Crews don’t know how the cat is going to react and that could put them in danger.

The spokesman could not ABC-7 how much the rescue will cost the utility or if the cat’s owners will be billed.
