Homeless woman buried by hail in Northeast El Paso has died

An official with the El Paso Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to ABC-7 that they have the body of a woman rescued from underneath 3 feet of hail in a Northeast arroyo Saturday afternoon.

At this time they have not contacted family members so they cannot release her name or additional information.

A fire department spokesman told ABC-7 Saturday that three people managed to get out of the arroyo but one woman did not.

El Paso Fire Dept. water rescuers searched for nearly an hour, stabbing poles into the accumulation of hail, looking for the missing woman before they finally found her.

EMS crews continued to perform resuscitation efforts as the woman was transported to University Medical Center, the spokesman said. The woman’s body temperature had dropped to 75 degrees when she was admitted to the hospital.
