Fort Bliss implements enhanced security measures
A Fort Bliss spokesman says the enhanced security measures going into effect Monday, Sept. 8, are to protect both soldiers and civilians.
Cassidy gate is one of seven that civilians can use to enter post. The other six include: Buffalo Soldier gate, Chaffee gate, Biggs Main (formerly known as Sergeant Major) gate, Old Ironsides (formerly known as Global Reach) gate, Alabama Gate and the Fred Wilson gate.
Only Department of Defense identification card holders can enter Fort Bliss at the following gates:
IBCT-North gate
Sergeant Major north gate
McGregor Front gate
Jeb Stuart gate (5-9 a.m., 2-6 p.m.)
Sheridan gate (5 a.m. – 9 p.m.)
Three gates entirely closed are the Pershing gate, Cemetery Pedestrian gate and the McGregor rear gate.
As a reminder, anyone entering Ft. Bliss must have a U.S. state-issued driver’s license or passport. All vehicles and occupants are also subject to random searches and inspections, which has always been the case. Travelers should plan accordingly as access times to Ft. Bliss might be increased due to the reinforcements.
