Ex-EPISD superintendent Lorenzo Garcia to get out of prison early

Lorenzo Garcia, convicted former El Paso Independent School District superintendent, will be getting out of prison earlier than expected.

A spokesman for the Bureau of Prisons told ABC-7 Garcia will be released in November 2014. Garcia was originally supposed to be released in prison until October 2015.

The spokesman said a prisoner may be released early if he completes a treatment program — which Garcia did.

Garcia pleaded guilty to defrauding EPISD and orchestrating a scheme to manipulate state and federal testing scores.
