I-10 closure to affect Sun Metro routes
Because of the scheduled closure of Interstate 10, Sun Metro announced it will be forced to detour Routes 18, 42, 59 and 83 beginning at 5 a.m. Sunday, October 12. This detour will be in effect until 5 a.m. Monday, October 13.
Along with the four listed detoured routes; Routes 10, 14 and 15 are also expected to see major service delays. Other Sun Metro routes traveling in and out of Central and Downtown El Paso are expected to see some delays depending on traffic congestion.
Sun Metro staff will monitor the impacted areas and assist as necessary. Drivers will make courtesy stops a required. Detours are subject to change due to traffic conditions.
Sun Metro strongly encourages the public to avoid traveling on Sunday, October 12, to help reduce traffic congestion. If traveling is necessary, the public is asked to please plan for delays and be courteous to Sun Metro buses and fellow commuters to help prevent unnecessary accidents and anxiety.
ROUTE 18
Buses traveling inbound, south on Mesa will continue along Mesa turning right onto Glory Road, left onto Oregon, right onto Yandell, left onto Santa Fe to the Downtown Transfer Center. ROUTE 42
Buses traveling inbound, south on US-54 will turn right onto Loop 375/Border Highway, right onto Campbell, left onto Myrtle returning to the regular route. ROUTE 59
Buses traveling inbound, west on I-10 will exit Piedras, turn left onto Piedras, right onto Paisano, right onto Campbell, left onto Myrtle returning to the regular route.
Buses traveling outbound, north on Santa Fe will turn right onto Santa Fe, left onto Campbell, right onto Franklin, enter 1-10 East returning to the regular route. ROUTE 83
Buses traveling inbound, east on Paisano will turn left onto Executive, right onto Mesa, right onto Glory Road, left onto Oregon, right onto Yandell, left onto Santa Fe to the Downtown Transfer Center.
