Man who struck Code Compliance officer with car pleads not guilty in accident that caused death

Rosendo Alvarado was arraigned Wednesday morning in 41st District Court on two felony counts of manslaughter and accident involving death.

Alvarado, with his attorney, Davidson Smith, by his side, stood before Judge Anna Perez and pled not guilty to the charges.

Alvarado is accused of hitting El Paso Code Compliance officer Robert Narro with his car in July.

Narro was taken to an area hospital with a fractured skull and several internal injuries. He died two weeks later from those injuries.

Alvarado faces between two to 20 years in prison if found guilty.

The accused man has been in the El Paso County Detention Center since the accident.
