Neighbor helps Las Cruces Police catch alleged home invaders

A neighbor helped Las Cruces Police track down two men and a woman who allegedly were involved in a home invasion and robbery at a home.

Police say the home invasion and robbery happened at an elderly couple’s home on Tuesday.

Jesse V. Saenz, 43, Daniel Hernandez, 23, and Dianna T. Parra, 38, all residents of the Village of Dona Ana, are charged with two counts each of kidnapping, and one count each of aggravated burglary and conspiracy.

Saenz and Hernandez also face a charge of tampering with evidence.

Police were sent to the 200 block of Harvard Dr. shortly after 8 am. Tuesday where a husband and wife, ages 88 and 86, live.

Police say that two masked and armed men broke into the couple’s residence, bound the couple’s hands with duct tape and ordered them to the floor before stealing cash and currency worth several hundred dollars.

After the men fled the home, the 86-year-old victim freed herself and called 911.

There were no serious injuries.

Police learned that the couple’s neighbor noticed a red, older-model Chevrolet pickup parked nearby at the time of the robbery and told officers the license plate number.

Police tracked the pickup to a home on N. Mesquite St. and learned that the vehicle owner’s son, Daniel Hernandez, had just returned the pickup.

Police say that Saenz and Hernandez are the two who allegedly entered the couple’s home.

Saenz and Parra were arrested Tuesday, Sept. 23, while Hernandez was arrested Wednesday afternoon.
