Northeast El Paso residents may experience low water pressure Monday

El Paso Water Utilities will be adding valves to a pipeline, which will affect 1,100 homes in northeast El Paso Monday night from 7-10 p.m.

The affected homes are bordered by Kenworthy Street and Fairbanks Drive.

Although water won’t be shut off completely, it may be difficult to do things that require higher volumes such as shower, cook and do laundry. The valves added Monday will allow EPWU to relocate a section of pipeline to accommodate a TxDOT road widening project on Martin Luther King Boulevard.

An EPWU spokeswoman told ABC-7 they’re relying on social media and news outlets to inform residents, because construction work moves so quickly that they didn’t have time to alert people any other way.

“If you don’t have water, that’s basically the time I get back from work. I need the water to shower, wash my dishes, to do whatever I have to do before going to bed so it’s definitely a bad time to do that. They could have done it while people were at work,” one resident in the area said.

There will be a hydration station set up at Los Colinas Plaza, 10716 Patriot Freeway, Monday night while crews work, if anyone happens to need water.
