Pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by vehicle in Lower Valley

El Paso Police have released the name of the pedestrian seriously injured in a car crash Wednesday morning in the Lower Valley.

Police say that the pedestrian, 70-year-old Oscar Gonzalez-Rodriguez, was crossing the street in the 8800 block of Alameda just after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say that Gonzalez-Rodriguez did not cross in a crosswalk when a 2013 Nissan Sentra was traveling westbound on Alameda.

The driver, 85 year old Fidencio Luna, was unable to avoid Gonzalez-Rodriguez and struck him.

Gonzalez-Rodriguez was transported to Del Sol Medical Center and later transferred to University Medical Center.

Investigators do believe the injuries sustained by Gonzalez-Rodriguez are life threatening.

No other injuries were reported and no charges are pending in this case.
