Del Sol Hospital enacts infectious disease protocols
Del Sol Hospital took extra precaution and enacted infectious disease protocols Friday night.
A patient came to the emergency room and reported specific symptoms similar to those caused by Ebola.
ABC-7 received numerous calls from people worried about a possible Ebola patient after hearing the news that Del Sol enacted security precautions in it’s emergency room.
Del Sol CEO Jacob Cintron quickly released a statement saying, “A patient presented in our emergency department reporting specific symptoms and answered screening questions such that we enacted infectious disease protocols including immediately isolating the patient,” wrote Cintron.
“The Texas Department of State Health Services and the El Paso Department of Public Health determined that the patient does not meet the criteria for Ebola testing,” Cintron added.
Del Sol said they are operating with the strictest possible protocols level and are following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines out of an abundance of caution.
The El Paso Department of Public Health also released a statement, saying
“In light of the recent reports and heightened fears regarding Ebola virus… the Department of Public Health created a web site to provide information to the general public, physicians and hospitals.”
The website is www.EPHealth.com.
ABC-7 will also have a link to that page on our website kvia.com.
Cintron told ABC-7 Saturday the patient had not exhibited any Ebola-like symptoms since being admitted to the hospital.
The patient was discharged Saturday afternoon.
