El Paso sees decrease in four crime categories
El Paso Police released statistics Wednesday showing that crime has decreased in the city in four categories.
The numbers listed below are through March 2, 2013 and are compared to this same time period in 2012 and are as follows:

Larceny 5% decrease (1,980 – 2013 & 2,086 – 2012)
Veh Theft 41% decrease (132 – 2013 & 225 – 2012)
Assaults 12% decrease (1,433 – 2013 & 1,637 – 2012)
Murders 60% decrease (2 – 2013 & 5 – 2012)
CRIME CATEGORIES WITH INCREASES THROUGH 03-02- 2013
Robberies 21% increase (69 – 2013 & 57 – 2012)
Burglary 3% increase (277 – 2013 & 268 – 2012)
Burg Veh 1% increase (325 – 2013 & 321 – 2012)
Overall crime across the city of El Paso is down 9% with the Westside seeing the largest decrease at 18% compared to this time last year.
The Pebble Hills area is down 11%, Central area down 10%, and Northeast is down 4%. The Mission Valley area is seeing a slight increase in overall crime at 3%.
