MLK canned food drive begins this month

The MLK Canned Food Drive starts Jan. 5. They will be collecting canned and non-perishable food donations from Jan. 5, 2015 through Jan. 19, 2015 in observance of MLK Day.

The Public can donate at the following locations:

Big 8 Food Stores
City Hall One Stop Shop County Courthouse El Paso Juvenile Justice Center Public Libraries Recreation Centers Sheriff’s Department Facilities Vista Quality Markets Wal-Mart Stores Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets

The food collected will be sorted and distributed to organizations that serve the less fortunate including:

The Center Against Family Violence
The El Paso Rescue Mission
The Opportunity Center for the Homeless The Salvation Army and others La Posada Home El Paso Villa Maria Recovery Alliance Reynolds Home

The food drive helps replenish depleted shelves at agencies and organizations that serve people in need. The MLK Canned Food Drive, celebrating its 15th anniversary, has collected an estimated 240 tons of food.
