MountainStar Sports chooses general manager for El Paso’s Triple-A baseball team

Brad Taylor has been named general manager of the new El Paso Triple-A baseball team, officially starting in his post on May 28, 2013.

The announcement was made today. MountainStar Sports Group is the owner group for El Paso’s Triple-A baseball team.

“In Brad, we felt we found the perfect leader to launch El Paso’s Triple-A team into its first season,” said MountainStar Sports Group President, Alan Ledford. “Brad exhibits such passion for Minor League Baseball, and has been instrumental in the operations of very high quality teams across the country.”

“Brad immediately understood the fun, affordable, and family-friendly environment we are looking to offer as the El Paso Triple-A experience,” added Ledford. “He has a great philosophy and a proven track record of engaging fans with their team, and, in turn, engaging the team with the community. We know he will be a great fit for the team, and for El Paso.”

Taylor has worked in Minor League Baseball for nearly 20 years, most recently serving as general manager and then the team president for the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

He was responsible for launching the brand new ballpark and then new Minor League Baseball team in the Bowling Green community in the summer of 2008. The Bowling Green Hot Rods are the Single-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. Prior to that, he spent nine seasons with the Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, spending the last three seasons as General Manager for the team. During his tenure, Taylor was at the helm for the Thunder’s first-ever league championship victory. Aside from the team’s success on the field, Mr. Taylor proudly led the team to great success in the stands, with more than 400,000 fans attracted to games for 14 consecutive seasons – a record in Double-A baseball.

“I am humbled and awed to be a part of the El Paso Triple-A baseball team. El Paso’s first season will be my 20th year in baseball, and I am very excited to spend that landmark working with a great team in such an incredible community,” said Taylor. “I was not necessarily looking to leave Bowling Green – my wife and I agreed that El Paso would have to be a very special place for us to uproot our two sons and make such a life-altering move. It didn’t take very long for us to see what a fantastic community you have – wonderful, warm people, a great environment for families, and a palpable excitement for the growth and new things coming. Jennifer and I are really excited to be a part of that.”

“Aside from El Paso being a great community, I believe El Paso’s Triple-A team is poised to become one of the top organizations in the industry. The combined elements of a dedicated, local ownership group, a brand-new facility, and fantastic leadership already in place make El Paso a recipe for Minor League Baseball success,” added Taylor. “In a community growing so quickly and with such genuine enthusiasm from residents, there is so much we can do together that will showcase El Paso as the high-level, quality community that it is.”

As General Manager, Taylor will work closely with MountainStar Sports Group President Alan Ledford to oversee the staff and operations for El Paso’s Triple-A team on a day-to-day basis. For more information about El Paso’s Triple-A baseball team, please visit www.elpasotriplea.com.
