Man arrested after posting alleged threat on Instagram aimed at El Dorado High School

An 18-year-old is behind bars at the Dona Ana County Detention Center for allegedly threatening students at El Dorado High School.

Carlos Castanon was arrested Friday morning in Sunland Park, New Mexico.

Castanon reportedly posted a photo on Instagram that showed two shotguns and had a caption that reads in Spanish, “For those at El Dorado.”

Socorro Independent School District officials learned of the threat Thursday and alerted the district’s police and El Paso Police.

Castanon is expected to be extradited to El Paso in the next 10 days.
