Border Patrol arrests 5 after alleged rock assault

U.S. Border Patrol agents in West Texas have arrested five individuals who authorities allege pelted the agents with rocks as they illegally tried to cross from Mexico into the U.S.

The Border Patrol says the agents were working Sunday night in El Paso when eight individuals were observed making illegal entry into the U.S. near an intersection along the border on the west side of the city.

Authorities say as the individuals tried to run back to Mexico, some of them turned around and began to throw rocks at the agents.

Five of the individuals were taken into custody. The other three fled back into Mexico.

No agents were hurt but some Border Patrol vehicles were damaged.
