Business owner says company’s reputation at risk
An El Paso man says the reputation of his home remodeling business is in danger.
Maan Abdeljaber and his brothers own A2Z Professional Remodeling, located in Sunland Park, NM.
On Wednesday , Adrian Zamarripa was sentenced to 18 months behind bars and a $10,000 fine for Deceptive Business Practices. He was the owner of A To Z Remodeling.
Zamarripa pleaded guilty to three cases in which he was given nearly $125,000 for construction that was never completed.
There is no relation between the two companies, but Abdeljaber said he received about 20 phone calls from concerned customers and companies he works with.
“We have to explain that we are totally different,” said the owner.
Abdeljaber said the company has been in business six years and annually it makes one to two million dollarsin revenue. He is worried the bad reputation of a company with a similar name will keep customers fromgoing to his business.
“We are working hard to build up our reputation with customers and clients and suddenly somebody pops up and just takes all that away,” said Abdeljaber.
‘A2Z’ is a subcontractor for a major commercial company in El Paso and also works with home and apartment developers in the area.
Abdeljaber’s company is a registered member of the Better Business Bureau in good standing.
