City Council signed off on reconstruction of Kansas and Santa Fe Bridge

El Paso, Tx- City Council has signed off on revamping the existing bridges over the Bataan train way. One bridge is on Kansas the other is on Santa Fe street right next to the Downtown ballpark.

Here’s the bad news both streets will be closed to all traffic at those locations and construction is expected to last months.

ABC-7 spoke with Martin Bartlett, the spokesman for the city’s Engineering department he says the city is working with nearby business owners to make sure drivers will have some sort of access to their locations.

Bartlett says “Kansas and Santa Fe are very heavily traveled in downtown El Paso all those cars going across the bridge day after day obviously takes a toll. In order to make sure those bridges can stay open we need to replace them before they get in any worse condition”.

Work on the bridges is expected to begin in early December Bartlett says it should wrap up by March 2015.
