PSB wants to raise monthly storm-water fee

The water utility is considering raising the storm-water fee you pay in your water bill every month.

The current, average storm-water fee for a residential customer is about $3, but the water utility wants to raise it to nearly $5 in about four years.

Utility officials say they say the increase would bring in about $160 million in revenue to the utility, part of which would go to help curb flooding like the kind seen in September of this year.

So far, the utility has completed $24 million dollars worth of stormwater projects to prevent flooding.

The Public Service Board is slated to vote on the proposed increase by December.
