Strong winds lead to downed utility pole and tree

A knocked over utility poll was hanging on by a thread along with an uprooted tree on the west side of El Paso.

The winds caused made for a rough start to the weekend for west El Paso residents and those driving on Mesa street.

Our newsroom received reports that the traffic lights at various intersections of Mesa street.

El Paso police had to close off part of north-bound Stanton street (right in front of Mission Hills park) due to a large tree toppling over in front of a house at the 39-hundred block of North Stanton. Fortunately, there was no damage to the home or anyone living inside.

No one was injured and electric company crews and firefighters showed up to deal with the hanging wires.
