Roswell horse slaughterhouse blocked
President Obama signed a federal budget deal Friday. It’ll block closed slaughter houses from reopening.
Officials said this is for commercial slaughter of horses, including one planned to open in Roswell.
The budget withholds money for federal inspections of the slaughterhouses.That blocks the opening of plants in New Mexico, Missouri and Iowa.
The last domestic horse slaughterhouses closed in 2007.
