SOLD OUT! UTEP To Play Host To Rutgers In WNIT Final Saturday

The 2014 WNIT championship game (UTEP vs. Rutgers, 1 p.m. Saturday, CBS Sports Network) has sold out in record time, taking less than two hours for the 12,222 seats at the Don Haskins Center to be purchased.

The Miners (29-7) and Scarlet Knights (27-9) will be playing before a sold-out Don Haskins Center for a second straight contest. The game will be nationally-televised by CBS Sports Network while it will be broadcast on 1150 AM in El Paso. The home match-up is possible due to the gracious decision by the Franklin Graham Festival of Hope to move its previously-scheduled event to another location on campus.

“Wow we did it again in record time!” UTEP head coach Keitha Adams said. “Thank you, El Paso! We will see you Saturday afternoon.”

The championship tilt will mark the fourth straight tilt that the Orange and Blue have equaled or set the school’s attendance record. The Miners attracted 8,234 fans in the WNIT Sweet 16 win vs. Colorado (68-60, 3/28/14) before drawing 10,227 in the Elite 8 triumph against Washington (70-63, 3/31/14).

The prior school attendance standard was 7,255 against SMU on Feb. 28, 2008.
